
Anton Sculean is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology and currently the Head of the Dental Research Center (DRC) of the School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland. Prof. Sculean has authored more than 600 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 50 chapters in periodontal textbooks and has delivered more than 1000 lectures at national and international meetings. He is Editor in Chief of Periodontology 2000, the N°1 ranked journal in Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Medicine and is currently listed as the top-rated expert in Periodontics in the world (https://www.expertscape.com/ex/periodontics). His h-Index is 110 (google scholar) and 73 (web of science). Prof. Sculean has received numerous research awards including the Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the Eminence Award of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), the Anthony Rizzo Young Investigator Award from the Periodontal Research Group (PRG) of the IADR, the IADR/PRG Award in Regenerative Periodontal Medicine, the Scientific Award of the Lasers & Bio-photonics Scientific Group of the IADR, the Distinguished Teacher Award from the European Orthodontic Society, Honorary Membership of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), and the Medal of Honour from the George Emil Palade University, Targu-Mures, Romania. He has been awarded honorary doctorates (Dr. h.c.) by Victor Babes University Timisoara, Romania, Semmelweis University Budapest, Carol Davila University, Bucharest, Romania, and the Grigore T. Popa University, Iași, Romania. Prof. Sculean is Past President of the Periodontal Research Group of the IADR, the Swiss Society of Periodontology, the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), the International Academy of Periodontology (IAP), and of the Continental European Division (CED) of the IADR. He was congress chair of EuroPerio11, the world`s largest congress in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. He currently serves as Secretary General of the EFP, member of the Executive Committee of the Osteology Foundation, and board member of the Oral Reconstruction Foundation. His research interests focus on periodontal wound healing and regeneration, regenerative and plastic-esthetic periodontal surgery, use of antibiotics, antiseptics, and novel approaches such as lasers and photodynamic therapy in the treatment of periodontal and peri-implant infections.

Dr. Alpdoğan Kantarci holds a DDS and a PhD. He is a Board certified specialist of periodontology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is the Erwin Schaeffer Endowed Chair, professor and Chair of the Department of Developmental and Surgical Sciences at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He was previously a professor and senior member of the staff at the ADA Forsyth Institute and a faculty member at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and Boston University’s Henry Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He completed his doctorate studies at Istanbul University's Department of Periodontology and moved to the US as a postdoctoral fellow at Boston University. He completed his clinical periodontology specialization training (CAGS) at Boston University. He served as the clinical director at the ADA Forsyth Institute and continues to work as an active periodontist and implantologist.
Dr. Kantarci has mentored more than 60 theses and directed and taught in several graduate and postgraduate clinical and didactic dentistry courses. He serves on the editorial board of more than 20 dental and medical scientific journals. His research interests include Molecular Mechanisms and Resolution Pathways of Oral Inflammation in Periodontitis and the Link to Systemic Diseases, Experimental Models, Clinical Applications of High-Throughput Analysis in Dental Research (e.g. xMAP Multiplexing), and Biology of Tooth Movement. He holds several patents. He has published more than 220 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, written book chapters, and presented more than 500 oral talks.

Prof. Dr. Ali Çekici was born in Istanbul in 1977. He graduated from Beşiktaş Atatürk Anatolian High School in 1995 and from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 2000. In 2001, he began his doctoral studies in the Department of Periodontology at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry and received the title of Dr. Med. Dent. in 2007. In the same year, he started working as a Research Assistant. Between 2010 and 2012, he was awarded a TÜBİTAK scholarship and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University, The Forsyth Institute in Boston, USA. He obtained the title of Associate Professor in 2014. In 2024, he was appointed as Professor in the Department of Periodontology at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry, where he currently serves as a faculty member.
Prof. Dr. Ali Çekici has published numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals, which have received nearly 1,500 citations. He regularly participates as an invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings.
He has contributed as an author and translator to many books in the field of periodontology. Additionally, he served as the translation editor for the Turkish edition of “Newman & Carranza’s Clinical Periodontology and Implantology,” one of the most widely accepted reference textbooks in periodontology worldwide.
Prof. Dr. Ali Çekici currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry, as a member of the Scientific Affairs Committee of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), and as the President of the Turkish Society of Periodontology.

Dr. Barış Güncü completed his doctoral studies in 2006 at the Department of Prosthodontics, Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry. Between 2007 and 2013, he worked as a managing partner and prosthodontist in a private dental clinic.
Since 2013, Dr. Güncü has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Prosthodontics at Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry. He has extensive basic and clinical research experience related to immediate loading protocols in dental implantology.
Dr. Güncü is a member of the Turkish Prosthodontics and Implantology Association (TPİD), the International College of Prosthodontists (ICP), and a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He has authored numerous scientific publications in national and international journals and has presented at many national and international congresses and conferences.

He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1991 with the best degree. He started the post-graduate studies and doctorate (PhD) program at Gazi University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology and completed the PhD program in 1996. The title of his PhD thesis was “Effectiveness of a collagen membrane enriched with fibronectin on guided tissue regeneration (GTR) technique in dogs” and “Evaluation of cellular response and resorption characteristics of collagen membranes enriched with fibronectin. Light and transmission electron microscopic study”. Following his academic studies, he received Associate Professor degree in 2003 and Professor degree in 2008 at Gazi University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology. Within the framework of ERASMUS program, he gave the lectures in University of Szeged, Faculty of Dentistry - Hungary, titled “Ultrasonic Piezoelectric Surgery Systems; Using Principles, Indications, Advantages and Disadvantages” in 2013. He has 33 international and 32 national scientific publications in the leading journals of periodontology and implantology. He is member of European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), International Academy for Dental Research (IADR), Turkish Society of Periodontology (TPD), Turkish Dental Association (TDB), Ankara Chamber of Dentists (ADO), Osseointegration Academy Association (OSSEDER) and he is also member of International Team for Implantology (ITI). He works in ITI as fellow. He also attended lots of congress and scientific meetings in various European countries, United States and Turkey associated with periodontology and implantology. He is reviewer for Journal of Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, Acta Odontologica Turcica and Journal of Ankara Chamber of Dentists. He presented lots of lectures and courses concerning the periodontal and peri-implant surgeries and piezo-surgery. His special interests are all surgical applications related to dental implantology, mucogingival surgeries, aesthetic crown lengthening surgeries, bone augmentation surgeries and Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) techniques. After receiving training on the Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) methodology at Swiss Dental Academy (SDA) in Switzerland in 2022, he applied this method for the first time in Turkey and gave numerous conferences and courses on this subject and continues his educational studies on this subject.

Professor Cenk Haytaç was born in Adana and graduated from Tarsus American College in 1988 and from Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 1994. He completed his PhD in Periodontology in 1999 at Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry. Prof. Haytaç has served as a founding faculty member of the Department of Periodontology at Çukurova University Faculty of Dentistry, where he was appointed in 1997, and he continues to work at the same institution. He has served as a visiting faculty member at various times at KU Leuven University in Belgium, Voronezh University in Russia, and Plovdiv University in Bulgaria. Prof. Haytaç has numerous clinical research articles published in national and international journals. He is currently involved as a principal investigator in several international research projects. His main research interests include the use of probiotics in periodontology and implantology, PRF and its modifications in soft and hard tissue regeneration, and the use of lasers in periodontal therapy.

George Kotsakis, DDS, MS, PhD is a Board-Certified Periodontist and Clinician Scholar. He received his DDS from the University of Athens and after graduation he practiced in Athens, Greece prior to coming to the US. He then completed his residency in Periodontics and MS in Science at the University of Minnesota when he first got involved in Peri-implantitis research. Following his training, he became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA and then moved to UTHealth San Antonio as an Associate Professor and held the Roland Meffert Endowed Professorship in Implant Dentistry. He is currently a Professor of Oral Biology & Assistant Dean for Clinical Research at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He directs the NIH-funded Translational Periodontal Research Lab conducting research on the biological mechanisms underlying peri-implant bone loss and developing novel treatments for dental and biomedical implants. Dr. Kotsakis has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and textbook chapters with more than 25,000 citations of his work (h-index: 35). He is one of the few Dental researchers to have been published in prestigious medical publications, such as the Lancet, the BMJ and PNAS.
He has been the recipient of multiple career and research awards from the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Periodontology Foundation, the IADR, and other organizations. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Periodontology, and for Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. He lectures frequently and gives hands-on courses both nationally and internationally on peri-implantitis therapy.

Dr. Rasperini is Associate Professor of Dentistry and Periodontology at the Department of Biomedical, Surgical and Dental Sciences, University of Milan, Milan, Italy. Adjunct Associate Professor and Faculty Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston, MA USA. Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the School of Dentistry, University of Michigan MI USA. Dr. Rasperini received his D.D.S. from the University of Pavia in 1990, his certificate of specialist in Orthodontics from the University of Milan in 1997, his certificate as Active Member of the Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology (SIdP) in 1997. He later received his certificate as Active Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED) in 2009, Full member British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (BAAD) 2015-2022 and Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO) in 2022.
Dr. Rasperini is member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry and is ad hoc reviewer in the editorial boards of multiple journals. He has published over 115 papers on PubMed, h-index 36 and more then 6000 citations. He lectured extensively in the five Continents in the fields of Periodontology and Implantology, Regenerative Medicine, Surgical techniques for periodontal and peri-implant tissues reconstruction. Winner of Awards for research with his co-workes: International Quintessence Publishing Award (Boston 2000 - 2004), Goldman Prize (SIdP 1996 - 2010 - 2017), Clinical Research Award (EAO 2010), Earl Robinson Periodontal Regeneration Award (AAP 2012), Align Research Award (2013). He is the founder of the iPerio Education Center in Piacenza, Italy, where he teach his philosophy of treatment and concepts of the modern dentistry.

Iain Chapple was Head of Birmingham University School of Dentistry 2016-2020. He continues to be Head of Research for the Institute of Clinical Sciences and REF2021 lead for Unit of Assessment 3. He is also Professor and Head of Periodontology within the School, and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry with Birmingham Community Health Trust. He has honorary consultant contracts with University Hospital Birmingham Foundation Trust, Birmingham Women's and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, and the Office of the Chief Dental officer. Prof Chapple has published over 240 research papers in the peer reviewed scientific literature, and written and edited 10 textbooks and authored 23 book chapters in the field of Periodontology, Periodontal Medicine and Surgery, Nutrition and Molecular Methods. Iain has received major grants from the Medical Research Council, European Union, Charities and Industry. Prof Chapple is a committed an enthusiastic teacher of undergraduate and postgraduate students within Birmingham, nationally and internationally on various graduate programs across Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific rim. Prof Chapple is former Scientific Editor of the British Dental Journal, former Associate Editor of Journal of Periodontal Research and the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and current Associate Editor of Periodontology 2000.
Prof Chapple was awarded the Charles Tomes medal of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2012; the Distinguished Scientist Award of the International Association for Dental Research (Periodontal Research) in 2018; the Special Citation Award of the American Academy of Periodontology in 2018; and the Eminence Award of the European Federation of Periodontology in 2022. Prof Chapple was President of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Periodontal Research Group (PRG-2006-7), Treasurer (2007-2013) and Secretary General (2016-2019) of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and is currently Treasurer of the UK Oral and Dental Research Trust. He co-chairs the annual EFP workshops (research and education). Prof Chapple is clinical lead for a hospital regional specialist periodontal service (referral base of 6-million) and a national oral care service for adult Epidermolysis Bullosa patients. Prof Chapple was awarded an MBE in the 2022 Queen’s honours list for services to Oral and Dental Health.

Associate Professor Kübra Aral, DDS, PhD, completed her doctoral education in 2014 at the Department of Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, Erciyes University. During her PhD training, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Oral Biology, University of Florida, and participated in two different research projects. Between 2019 and 2020, she served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Oral Biology Department of the University of Birmingham. From 2019 to 2021, she held a visiting faculty position at SRM Dental College, India. She has also served as a visiting professor at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA) in the Netherlands. Since 2021, she has been working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, Inonu University. She is also among the founding research staff of the Inonu University Biomedical and Genome Application and Research Center.
Dr. Aral has authored numerous in vitro and in vivo research articles published in internationally indexed journals. Her research article published in Oral Diseases in February 2021 was awarded “Article of the Month” by the University of Birmingham Institute of Clinical Sciences. Additionally, her study published in 2021 in the Journal of Endodontics, the official journal of the American Association of Endodontists, received an “Honorable Mention” award from the journal. During her undergraduate education, her research project conducted in 2009 was awarded third place in the Turkish Dental Association (TDB) Student Research Projects Competition. To date, she has served as a reviewer for more than 160 manuscripts in prestigious international journals such as the Journal of Periodontology, Journal of Periodontal Research, Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and Oral Diseases. She has also acted as a project reviewer for numerous national and international funding organizations, including TÜBİTAK, TÜSEB, and Fulbright.
Dr. Aral has carried out academic collaborations with researchers from various universities, including The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Leeds, and the University of Birmingham. Her research interests primarily focus on inflammasome regulation in periodontal diseases, mitochondrial mechanisms in host–microbiome interactions, and the association between periodontal pathogens and neuroinflammation. Mucogingival surgery is also among her special areas of interest. She is a member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and the Turkish Society of Periodontology.

Prof. Trombelli is Full Professor and Chair of Periodontology at the School of Dentistry, University of Ferrara. He has served as Director of the Research Center for the Study of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases at the University of Ferrara since 1999.
Between 1995 and 2004, Prof. Trombelli was Assistant Professor in the Advanced Education Programme in Periodontics and Implant Surgery at Loma Linda University, California, USA. Since 2013, he has been Director of the Dental Clinic at the University Hospital of Ferrara. He also served as Director of the Primary Care Department of Azienda Sanitaria di Ferrara from 2021 to 2022.
Prof. Trombelli was Dean of the Dental School at the University of Ferrara from 2013 to 2016 and President of the Medical School from 2014 to 2016. He served as President of the Italian Society of Osseointegration from 2007 to 2009.
He is an active member of the Italian Society of Periodontology, the Italian Academy of Osseointegration, and the International Association for Dental Research. Prof. Trombelli has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology since 2000 and served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Dental Research from 2018 to 2023.
He is the co-author of 192 peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in the PubMed database, with an H-index of 46, and has authored two textbooks and ten textbook chapters. Prof. Trombelli was actively involved in the development of the 2018 Classification of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases and Conditions, as well as in the formulation of the recent Clinical Practice Guidelines for the treatment of Stage I–III periodontitis (2020), Stage IV periodontitis (2022), and Peri-implant Diseases (2023).
His private clinical practice is limited to Periodontology and Oral Surgery.

After graduating from Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, Serhat Aslan completed his PhD in Periodontology at the Institute of Health Sciences, Ege University, with his doctoral thesis entitled “Evaluation of the Effect of Collagen Membrane Position Used Together with Bone Grafts on New Bone Formation in Buccal Dehiscence Defects Occurring During Implant Surgery.”
He works as a Periodontology Specialist at his clinic in Alsancak, İzmir. He serves as a faculty member at the Department of Biomedical, Surgical and Dental Sciences, University of Milan (Italy), and as a visiting faculty member at the Department of Periodontology and Oral Microbiology, KU Leuven (Belgium). By defining the Entire Papilla Preservation technique, he has contributed to the field of regenerative periodontal surgery. He has participated as an invited speaker at national and international congresses and has received several scientific and presentation awards.
He serves as Secretary General of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Society of Periodontology and as a delegate of the European Federation of Periodontology. Dr. Aslan is a member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), the Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology (SIdP), the International Team for Implantology (ITI), and the Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Association (EDAD). Conducting single- and multicenter clinical studies in the field of periodontology, Dr. Aslan focuses on the effects of regenerative biomaterials and different surgical techniques on soft and hard tissues, as well as their clinical outcomes.

Ulvi Kahraman Gürsoy completed his undergraduate education at Gazi University in 1998 and his doctoral education in 2004 at Cumhuriyet University, Department of Periodontology. In 2005, he began his research at the University of Helsinki as a postdoctoral researcher with scholarships from TUBITAK and the Finnish government. His doctoral thesis work earned him the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) CED Robert Frank 2nd Prize in 2004, and his postdoctoral research earned him the IADR CED Senior Robert Frank 2nd Prize in 2006. He received his associate professorship titles at Turku University in 2010 and in Turkey in 2011. Dr. Gursoy has been working as a Professor and Head of Department at the Institute of Dentistry, Turku University since 2023. His research focuses on host-bacteria relationships, laboratory modeling of host tissue, and the use of saliva as a diagnostic material in the diagnosis of periodontal diseases. Dr. Gursoy has over 140 academic publications in international journals. In addition to his work at Turku University, Dr. Gursoy serves as the General Secretary of the Scandinavian Division (NOF) of IADR.

Prof. Wim Teughels received his dental degree in 2000 from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KULeuven) in Belgium. In 2006, He earned the degree of specialist in periodontology and successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the same university. In addition, he earned the “European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) certificate in Periodontology”. In 2007, he was named an assistant professor at the KULeuven Faculty of Medicine. His teaching responsibilities encompass a range of topics in the fields of Periodontology and Human Anatomy. Currently, he is a professor at KULeuven and the University hospitals Leuven, where he is the head of the Periodontology and Oral Microbiology research group. His research is centered on periodontology and oral microbiology, with an emphasis on bacterial adhesion, microbial interactions, antimicrobials, and probiotics. This has resulted in over 200 papers in international journals, 3 edited books and over >10 book chapters. He has received five national and three international awards and is frequently invited to give lectures on the topic of "probiotics" and “antimicrobials” both domestically and internationally. In 2012, Professor Teughels is appointed associate editor for both the Journal of Periodontal Research and the textbook "Carranza's Clinical Periodontology." He is the co-director of the EFP- post-graduate education committee, an advisor for the EAO Consensus Conference committee, and the Ambassador for the ITI University Campus program. He holds visiting professorships at Cukurova University (Turkey) and Malaya University (Malaysia).
